On reaction to the Trayvon Martin / George Zimmerman case, especially from President Obama.

The rush to judgment in this case reminds me of the Duke La Crosse case and the O.J. Simpson case  Each ended up amounting in the end to something quite different than the shrill race-pimps first purported as they led demonstrations and stirred emotions based on their pre-existing narrative of a racist, hostile society.

It’s Alinsky.  Pick an issue, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it.  The divisiveness can be channeled and directed to your ends.  Once an issue feels personal and is polarized, actual facts are more easily ignored and people are more likely to make decisions based on emotion rather than reason.

Particularly I am disappointed in the president’s failure of leadership in this case.  He takes a shouted out question (which he never does), and instead of uniting us in light of the fact we have a good system that is working in this case, he personalizes the situation in a way meant to appeal to those who might believe the racist/hostile society narrative.  He’s not post-racial, he does not bring us together.  He is divisive; purposely, selfishly, destructively.
